The Trail Camera Dilemma

In the world of Sasquatch research, there are many topics that are taboo. Many other organizations and scientists will not talk about them for fear of ridicule. At S.I.R., we promised to show you all the evidence all the time. This is one of those mysteries.

Trail Cam #1

Sasquatch Picture Camera West Going

Sasquatch West Facing Trail Cam

Bigfoot Trailcam Video 28

Our two 1430 Infrared stealth cameras were placed strategically at a known crossing point across a stream.
.
They are camouflaged with pine branches to maximize their effectiveness.
.
Both cameras are checked daily, to check for photos and to make sure they are in proper working order.
.
In this sequence there are two units in play that are facing each other. One unit is equipped with a 12 volt stealth cam battery and the other unit with 6 Duracell C batteries.
.
After a very eventful Tuesday that was full of weird happenings at camp, both cameras tripped at the creek on Wednesday morning the 18th of August in daylight conditions.
.
All 9 burst sequences had whited out on both units, and we have no idea why.
.
One large foot print seems to indicate we should have had success in catching whatever triggered the cameras.
.
We thought we had caught a Sasquatch on camera from 2 angles. Instead we had 9 bursts of photos on both cameras of white frames.
.
Trail Cam #1 & #2 had 36 photos each. 9 each white and the rest were of us checking them daily going in and out of the small ravine.
.
Trail Cam #1’s camera with the batteries was working, but stopped at 36 frames.
.
Trail Cam #2’s 12 volt battery was completely dead. This battery should last 3 months or at minimum 100’s of photos per the manufacturer.
.
The first and last pictures from each trailcam are shown, so that you can see how long the burst of photos lasted…  87 seconds and 22 seconds respectively.
.
Once again we caught nothing. This has happened to us before in this area many times. For us, the frustration and mystery continues…
The second two photos in the sequence that are whited out is from the camera facing east in the ravine under a large canopy of trees crossing a small stream. The camera tripped at  07:36 am. The cameras are set in a nine burst pattern every three seconds. All nine whited out as indicated on the camera facing east. The track line came in from the west heading east, so this photo should have caught the back of the offender as he or she passed by. This is the camera with 6 “C” batteries that were still working stopped at 36 exposures. The second camera is facing west and is about 30 yards from camera one. It tripped at 07:39 am or almost 2 minutes later, which indicates the individual stopped for some reason. We think to assess the situation, but that is speculation only. They second camera facing west shows the anomaly of temperature, which we cannot account for. The first shot shows a temperature of 55 degrees. 9 bursts of 3 seconds each later it is back to the ambient temperature of 51 degrees. This 4 degree anomaly is unaccounted for and appears unnatural. This camera would have caught the forward view of the culprit as it crossed the stream headed east.Plus, remember the camera facing west was on a fully charged stealth cam 12 volt battery that was dead as well. It is usually good for up to 3 months in the field. It lasted less than 3 days and 36 photos only. We can only speculate the two are connected. Please note the sun is not a factor here, which rises in the east. A large mountain is just east of this location. It is shaded even in mid day under a large canopy of huge pines. We have no explanation for this phenomenon, but in our eyes they seem to be related and are worth noting.

Sasquatch research is not black and white, but has many shades of gray.
.
We as investigators have been fortunate enough to have experienced many of these gray areas.
.
Equipment failure is common. We have missed more than we have caught to be honest with you.
.
It is a frustrating hobby made even more frustrating by the fact that most of the rest of our colleagues are afraid to discuss these topics openly.
.
In our eyes, this is holding back progress.
.
Science works on facts and we understand this, but speculation and openness is integral if we are to be successful collectively in our endeavor to prove these magnificent creature’s exist.
.
It’s okay for Stephen Hawking to speculate on Black Holes, although he has never visited one.
.
It was okay for Einstein to test the limits of Physics and from it came the theory of Relativity.
.
We are not sure if it’s infrasound, we are not sure if it’s sonar, but since mammals already exhibit these traits, which we feel make these the mostly like candidates for this strange phenomenon.
.
Whatever it is it can physically effect you in ways we as a group do not understand.
.
Here is the proof that something strange is going on.
.
Now we ask that you open your eyes and your mind to the possibilities that there is more to these forest friends of ours than we know.
.
And maybe, just maybe that’s why it has been so difficult to prove they exist.
Bigfoot Trailcam Dilemma 3

Sasquatch Meat Pit Area

This is the meat pit as it existed in 2009. Please note one of our colleagues is attending to a stealth camera on the tree closest the downed log.
.
We used to place the stealth cameras nightly on the meat in 2009.
.
There is a second stealth camera in the tree in the center of the photo, which is very important to note as it pertains to the next photo and is of great importance.
.
The last photo shows the meat pit in 2010 as we found it. If you notice the large, healthy tree in the center of the photo that we used to place our stealth camera on in 2009 is down over our 2009 feeding station on the old log.
.
This basically rendering our 2009 feeding station of old useless. It is broken at about 7 feet. This tree sits in the center circle of many trees surrounded on all sides and is not the tallest tree either.
.
It fell perfectly over our feeding station. Coincidence, I don’t know, what I do know is the force’s required to bring that tree down on our feeding station are beyond my comprehension.
.
No other trees dead or alive had fallen in this area. I will let you be the judge of what happened here.
.

Recently on an outing in NW Colorado, Brad Corless, Scott Barta and I had an interesting experience in camp.
These trail cam videos are the result of that.

.

.

spacer
The day begins like this. I got up late and cleaned up camp.
.
I picked up a few pop cans and such and put them in a trash bag. We always tie the trash bag to a tree, so there is only a small opening forward.
.
After I cleaned up camp, I ate a banana as I was cramping up from a long hike the previous day.
.
I put the peel all the way down in the bag and then went to the rest room. After about 10 minutes, I returned and began cleaning up again.
.
I went to  put more trash in the bag and the peel was 1/2 pulled out. We always stick all the trash down in the bag, so I knew this wasn’t right.
.
Brad C had a suggestion as a result of my curious find, which I was open to.
.
He knows I am somewhat anti game cam because of past problems, but he talked me into giving it a try during the day with no IR. This being the case, I agreed.
.
He had two units different from ours, which I thought would make an interesting experience. He installed one at about 5 feet high and 15 feet from the camera in a tree. Then we left it all day.
.
The first video is of a small marten/weasel type animal we captured running in and out of the video nervously. This video lasted 29 seconds.
.
The second is unknown. Some think its a shape and others a hand. It last only one second, which is really odd. One second only. The camera was set at video and it is motion activated, so it captures all that moves in front of it.
.

These two videos are all we caught. We after scratching our heads once again have decided to show you the evidence.
There were no other campers at all. We didn’t see any from Monday through Wednesday until we moved camp.
It’s just another dilemma, we thought you should see and judge what it is for yourself what happened here.

Thanks, Brad, Scott and Mike-SIR

.
On 6/30/2013 these 3 videos were obtained in sequence at our NW Colorado location.

.

.

.

.

spacer
We tried the Stealth Cam on a different setting.
.
We ran the camera on video mode instead of the 9 burst mode.
.
We left the camera armed and set in the back of the tent with 10 second video shot.
.
This is what we found when we returned after 5 hours in the field.
.
We find it strange and unexplainable.
.
Video one was taken at 12:52pm that day.
.
The camera is being activated by the wind and is working properly.
.
Video two was taken at 01:43 Pm.
.
The door is clearly obscured. Please also note items seem to disappear in the sides of the frame over time.
.
Video three was taken at 1:55pm. The camera once again is working fine and was triggered by wind.
.
My thoughts on this. Some of you may find this controversial, but it was has been my experience in the field and after studying many videos and pictures from throughout Colorado.
.
If we are to get to the truth, we must discuss all the evidence.
.
The flapping of the tent flaps attracted one of our friends and they came and took a peak inside while we were away is my thought.
.
This white out sequence is an unknown defense mode they may possess. The camera works fine before and after the event.
.
It could be light, it could be energy, it could be electricity. I do not know, but I do know it is found frequently in photos and videos inside and outside of our organization pertaining to the Sasquatch.
.
All of these traits listed above are found naturally in the Animal Kingdom.
.
If you look at Ron Petersen’s photo closely, you see a white face in the back ground on what would be a bigger individual.

We at SIR, believe this may not by accident. We have seen and been sent other videos and pictures from Colorado exhibiting this same phenomenon.

You be the judge, we are just showing you the evidence we have collected. It is consistent over time. There is obviously a lot more going on here than we expected and this may help explain why their existence has not been so easy to solve.

I tend to agree with your theory, and commend you for being forthright with the odd failures. I’ve heard other researchers that experience even weirder sighting-related phenomena call them “high strangeness” incidents, as if the concept of a sasquatch isn’t strange enough. I also wonder if a sasquatches night vision can detect IR light from these trailcams, making them a glaring beacon to avoid. Has anyone actually taken a pic of an IR cam with an IR camera? What would it look like?

Keep up the good work,

that is very strange about the whiteout pictures. it really does make you think that something unnatural is happening. I have never heard of this before from other sites doing this research. pretty weird. good luck you guys.

I think they can detect either the hum from the minute current that goes through the trigger. OR the sasquatch can see
an infrared beam that may a trigger. Regardless of where you put it, or disguise it, it is detectable by Bigfoot.

There are too many incidents where BF has defeated or just got right up in the lens and whited it out. The game cam has to be rethought or re engineered with cameras in a 360 degrees aspect because it seems as though adults can defeat it 99% of the time.

Maybe the solution is to go 100% mechanical. Using non electronic film cameras with trip wires, or pressure plates. Get some of those gimmick type spy cameras from the 70s that were really small. They had fixed focal lengths I think, but they were real small and easily hidden. It would take a lot of ingenuity to make these ideas work. A drawback would be of course that they wouldn’t be effective after nightfall when Sasquatch is active. There are types of film that are sensitive to near infrared but then you would need an electronic light source to make infrared light.
Too bad there wasn’t a way to use AC power. I don’t think he could drain a constant source of electricity.

Don’t know if any of this helps, but I think a clever person, or people could experiment and come up with something.

Paul G and to OP,this white out notion that BF knows its a camera so gosup to it to white it out is surely ridiculas. they re clever,if they exist, but i think you are all giving these creatures too mch credit. its kept with progress of cameras etc… and somehow knows to avoid them. i can go along with its instict to avoid man for its success and survival. but to go from that to them elibrately setting off the cameras to wgite out sounds far fetched and ridiculas to me. even if that were so why does it get it right so may times? surely once we would see it leg/arm/face etc… instead these cameras have produced zip since their introduction. Sadly all it does is hasten the belief that these things simply dont exist. there are thousands of these cameras around the US/canada.and we have nothin, the prooved bear photos that are the ‘jacobs shots’ alone. i really hope im wrong and their are a healthy population of bipedal apemen woman alking around the n.America region but its becoming less and less likely for me. Almsot as unlikely as this post making the light of day. I can se it getting ‘whitened out’!. maybe time to face the truth lads. eitherway stay safe guys and respect for at least trying

Oh, how I wish your post *had* gotten “whitened out”, gavin. It was truly painful trying to read through it. It is difficult to take someone seriously when they display such terrible grammar. As for the ability of Sasquatch to be able to white out or sense/avoid cameras, I find these to be VERY intriguing ideas. These things are out there, anyone who’s spent enough time in the deep, remote woods knows it. So why haven’t they decisively tripped one of the many, many trail cams set out there for that purpose alone? I’ve always felt that they either can sense heat signatures, infrared, etc. And if they can remain as stealthy in the forest as they do, there is a reason. A very big reason, and I think it is because they either know what these things are and simply avoid them, or they sense the electrical current of them, or sense/see the infrared. We all know they’re very intelligent, and for them to stay as elusive as they have for this long, there has to be more going on with Sasquatch than we ever could have imagined!

Hi…have you thought of using either the new “sens-up” mini cameras or even the small “night devil” type ? They are very small indeed and some of the newer type are excellent at night…of course, they can be operated from just one or two small batteries and the devices needed to record are also very small…at least they could be hidden a lot easier than the trail cams which seem to be rather large and obvious to any creature that has even the least intelligence…Good luck.

If you don`t mind a further suggestion…just a thought…it seems that with the trail cams it is very difficult to get any results and they`re not easy to conceal..perhaps that is the very reason..do you ever think of a longer range strategy?

With some of the long range cameras it may well be easier to achieve stealth and there is also wireless technology that would achieve greater distance from the focal point of hoped for action…of course, night time would entail some difficulty but it isn`t impossible with modern cameras…then there is the daytime possibilities of longer range image capture…seeing as you check the trail cams each day, battery limitations wouldn`t be any different and as stated previously, some of the cameras are very small indeed and also give excellent longer range…

I`ve no idea of the hardships and frustrations you guys go through regarding the trail cams but the one major setback has to be the limited range and the difficulty of concealment…Good luck with your endeavours…it is such a different way you have of working to the other guys…it puts some faith back in to this subject for the likes of myself.

I use several trail cams here in Missouri. SEVERAL ARE 365/24.
The last picture is of a bird flying thru. I’ve had almost 100 similar shots
over the years. Its was a bird flying thru and tripped the system.

I would check the sealing gaskets on the camera with the white pictures.
I’ve had that problem as well over the years and it can be caused by condensation in your system.
The problem clears and the camera works fine after the condensation evaporates later in the day.

The problem can also be caused by a fault in your power system. I would check the batteries and the backup to the batteries if you are using a solar charger at the site. Over the years this has occurred to my systems as well.

Condensation will also cause problems with the power system.

Hope this helps you.

I highly suspect that BF can smell the cameras, trappers have hard time cloaking the scent of metal traps.I know some that boil them in sagebrush for three days to hide the smell.I understand that you can’t boil your cameras but try using something that will mask the smell yet not bring attention to it. something that nutrualizes the smell. baking soda might help but its not natraul. so try rubbing some strong smelling plant thats located at the site. maybe even put something along the trail to draw there attention away from the camera, and not notice it long enough for the camera to work,Iwould suggest a fishing lure in a tree for example.I havent got a trail camera yet to try it myself but one day I hope I will. please tell Brad C to give me a call I have lost his Phone #. We went up last year and thanks to him and your site I have learned what to look for.Last year over half the times I went up I had sucess in finding one within hearing distance of knocks or whistles. thanks again for your site

I think its all about scent, the camera, human installing the camera. I was a trapper for many years, an some aniamals learn very quickly about scent, and will not go near.

Hello, This Sasquatch research is fascinating.I was curious, have any of your researchers tried a well concealed tree stand at the stream ? I have been hunting and fishing for 48 years and have been near these animals on several occasions but have never actually seen one. I am convinced they exist. Good luck and thank you for the website!

I’m a skeptic, though open minded. Living in Colorado too, I love the idea that something so profound could be lurking so close nearby. In science, a theory must be considered plausible until it can be proven or disproven. While individual instances have been disproven, I think that a small population of wild hominids, who are terrified of humans, nocturnal, who bury their dead, can travel long distances while staying hidden, and who only inhabit areas that limit their risk of contact with humans is a plausible theory. On BFRO’s website, you notice that coloration and height data do tend to corroborate eachother by region (California and Colorado have dark brown and black sightings usually 7 ft tall, while pacific northwest tend to be reddish brown, and closer to 8 feet tall.) http://www.BFRO.net

First, about the trail cams. I have been using some of those for about 2 years now for my work. They are glitchy as hell. The cameras have a filter that swings back and forth for daytime VS nightime viewing. Early in the morning, the cameras will still be on the nighttime infrared setting, even though there is enough light for daytime viewing. When this happens, you will get pure white pictures, since the filter is letting way too much light in. That may have been a sasquach, or a deer that tripped the pictures here, but the unit didn’t work. At 7:30, they should have turned on to daytime viewing, but they didn’t.
I have found that you have to put out a lot of cameras, and be willing to accept that most of your pictures and video will be of branches swaying in the wind, pure white in the morning, and pure black at twilight.
In another post, someone knew an area where someone (something?) was re-arranging stones. This seems like a far better area to put cameras out, since you can be sure that they will spend time in one small area.

Second, I’d like to ask what you would actually do if you did get a clear, unambiguous picture or video of a sasquatch? If it was clear enough to get an endorsement from a researcher, they would want to send a team to confirm the presence of the sasquatch, collect samples and interact with the creatures.
In reading the accounts from BFRO, these creatures seem to move faster than a deer, they clear out of an area after a first person encounter, and everyone who sees one up close seems to have the same feeling of intense fear for their lives.
So what would be the best case outcome from proving that sasquatch exist? Conservation of land that is not currently threatened? Contact and intelligence testing? A zoo exhibit? Education and integration into our society? A reality TV show?
What would be the worst case outcome? Every hiker that went missing in known sasquatch territory would be a presumed victim. A black market trade would open up. If Sasquatch exist, they have lived this long by fearing and avoiding humans at all costs; Exposing their existence would force us into contact. It would be like forcing you into a small room full of bees, snakes, spiders, bats, roaches and rats. Every bit of their loathing and fear would triggered by contact with us. An already low population could collapse.

But if you were the discoverer, the first author on the description paper, you could testify in front of congress. You could help shape a policy that limits contact, that sets aside sasquatch reserves, and gets them endangered species status. It would be far better than a redneck with a shotgun bringing a body in.

It seems to me that they do not want to be videoed…You may get much more personal contact with them without this (as in going to make friends with them as your only base…) 🙂

Thanks for posting your experiences with trail cam efforts. John C back in 2011 offered the term “high strangeness” and I thank him for that. My experiences (captures both still and video, day and night incidents) during an investigation here in the BC Interior had the witness (property owner) asking me not to use them as in leave then out of the report. “Too wierd”. Triggering seemed purposeful, whiting-out shows hair strands in the seconds before becoming totally overexposed by covering the lens. I believe it was covered by the creature’s hand as a sharp outline of a finger showing what could be the outline of tip of finger and fingernail.

I was comfortable that I bring an open mind to my explorations/investigations. However I found myself in moral crisis of squatching when I heard my mind clang shut when the stills of the glowing orb appeared. All of a sudden I didn’t want to include these few pics. Me of open mind? But how would I explain them? I only “do” real evidence, not paranormal
stuff. Yikes!

Your posting has demonstrated a dignified way to include the information, and great integrity in doing so. I will be brave and include all the evidence/data reports. Who am i to decide where the mystery of the Sasquatch begins and ends?

My name is Brett Allen, I have been researching the “paranormal” (hauntings, Sasquatch, UFOs) for longer than most have been alive, I was raised with a gun in my hands, in the woods. In the mid ’70s, after my first UFO sighting in NYS Hudson Valley during the famous Hudson Valley flap (featured on the cover of world famous UFO Magazine) wI began to notice these off wood structures in the forest while coon hunting. In 198o, we found a a print in NY’s Warren County, while Ice Fishing. It was 5:30am on frozen Loon Lake, the print was on on a small patch of snow during a a particularly squally morning… meaning what ever left it, was there only minutes before us. The lake is in the Adirondacks @ 40 miles from Whitehall. That summer we’d been up on a nearby mt on horseback… when I got the eeriest feeling, that made me retreat. Our camp was on a powerline off the pristine Hudson River. We’d had a drunken hollering contest around the fire before bed. About 3am, my trailer was hit with a rock, then the “whoops” started. You should check out a couple Youtube videos,by poster “aboxofmonsters” here’s the link… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E6ZXL2zpZY Anyway, I have been in the woods my whole life, raised wit ha gun, teaching rifle range for the Boy Scouts, archery, even rode the mts on horseback. I now live in the Afdk Park, America’s largest wilderness park, and own a property on a mt. lake with 3 fish spawns and several Oaks. Since then, I have researched these phenomena, and immediately noticed that hauntings, UFOs and Sasquatch, in many cases, all seem to manifest similar EM anomalies on our technology: draining batteries, confounding electronics, cameras, lights, etc, even “those odd feelings” so many discount. I have personally had many odd experiences. from knocks, to voices in the woods, “monkey chatter” dark bipedal shape running up the mt. side. About 2010, during a walleye spawn, on a black moonless night, I took my dogs out to check the spawn. I’d heard knocks for several days venturing outside. Even watched my dogs go nuts chasing and snapping at something in the creek I couldn’t see. That night, I felt like something was above me in a tree, it sounded huge, and when it growled at me, suddenly I was incapacitated. It took about 10sec for my ability to move to come back and I scrambled for my feet; my dogs way ahead of me. I have heard this from many people. I was Crash Fire and Rescue, as well as Head of Security and a Body Guard, I don’t scare easily or faint. I have no idea what happened. Infrasound? Something else? So many researchers discount the most informed source we have on these creatures – Native Americans. They say these are beings that are part spirit (demons, gods, cannibals, stealers of women and children, ELDER BROTHER OF MAN) all descriptions eerily similar to those in Genesis. Few realize how much of the Bible has been proven archaeologically… even Goliath. There is growing evidence the Phoenicians came to America; Phoenicians are Canaanites – Canaan was home to the 36 tribes of Nephilim giants that survived the flood. Esau was born covered in thick red hair, all over, like a pelt. He was wildman, a great hunter. So why doesn’t anyone understand… Wlldmen were painstakingly carved into Cathedral walls, because they were SCARED beings! Check out the link, you have similar experience. Also, we also have many striking orb photos as well. It’s sad that so many researchers do not cross genres; as they would know that Paranormal investigation is proving there is indeed a “spirit” realm or “underworld” – the unseen wavelengths of the IR and the UV visible to insects and some mammals. There are amazing images of moving “flying orbs”, apparitions, anthropomorphic shapes, etc. They have also introduced 3d image motion capture software with sensor arrays to astounding results. Check out the link… tell him I sent ya. Incredibly, all this matches up with Native American belief that far too many Bigfoot researchers simply ignore. Remember, there is no scientific proof the “paranormal” does not exist – only the word of your parents. Many do not even know that Science has NEVER explored the issue.; as hey simply discard it out of hand. Brett Allen – Cover UFO Magazine 2009.

You have no idea what you are dealing with! These things you are messing with will never give you any answers. I found this out after spending years of my life investigating this and other phenomenon’s, they are all tide together. If you are truly a Christian then ask yourself this, do you think God wants you to do this do you think its a coincidence that your pictures are whited out. The white man came to this country and never listened to the Native Americans, they just took and killed and true to the white mans spirit you still don’t listen, here you are trying to “help” something that never asked for your interference that you do not even comprehend but for your own selfishness which is evident thru all of your postings, you continue to persist in the unattainable. Its amazing after all these years you people still do not hear and see what the natives know. Even in the military we were told not to engage these things and to mind our own business when tracks were found or calls where made. You need to really consult God on this for I am quite certain this is not in his will but I will not speak for him and take his name in vein. look back and see how exposing the natives to western culture has helped in their demise, cant you see you are doing the same thing by posting your pictures of the things you find? Feeding them on paper plates and trading food for trinkets? You no kill people are worse than the kill people, selling bigfoot items and speaking for a tribe that you have know right to speak for! It would be better to kill one and prove to the world they exist and save the rest of the forest for them than to sit by and exploit for your own “good time” in the woods. I have almost deleted this post a few times because I know you will not listen you have invested too much and convinced yourself you are right in your actions. It takes a humble man to admit he is wrong, take a long good look in the mirror, its tough I know. My prayer for you and yours is for Gods will to be done in the end. Good luck and God bless.

I agree that it is probably some sort of personal energy field. When I was young 50 years ago I couldn’t wear a watch to keep time because they would all just stop working. Even battery types would stop working 20 years ago. I am now having heart problems and my electrical field must be waning because I can now wear a watch as long as it is on top of my clothing, like hanging on a chain, and it will work. But it used to be that I couldn’t even have a watch in my pocket and it would stop working. Same thing with street lights. I could wake down a side walk and the street lights above me would go off. I know it sounds strange but that was my life till a few years ago.
